Eating Along Penghu's Huxi East Route: A Meal Route Through Huxi Village, Longmen, Qingluo, Lintou and Aimen

In short

Huxi Township sits just east of Magong, and Huxi Village, Longmen, Qingluo, Lintou and Aimen link up into an easy east route. Following that route, this guide lists the noodle shops in Huxi Village, proper meals in Longmen and Qingluo, and seaside cafés at Lintou and Aimen, with tips on early closing, lunch breaks and closing days for a smooth half-day or full-day trip.

Huxi Township lies just east of Magong, a short drive from town. The area strings together the beaches of Lintou and Aimen, the coast and tunnels of Longmen, and the Qingluo wetland, which makes it ideal for a half-day or full-day "east route": a bowl of noodles in Huxi Village in the morning, a proper meal in Longmen or Qingluo at midday, an afternoon cooling off in a seaside café at Lintou or Aimen, and then an easy drive back to Magong.

The key to eating on the Huxi east route is that every place keeps a very different rhythm: some noodle shops open early in the morning and close soon after noon, some restaurants serve lunch and dinner in two sessions with a break in between, and cafés mostly stay open until early evening. Get these times right and the route flows smoothly. Below, meals are fitted into the route in the suggested order of travel.

Set the rhythm first: when to eat on the Huxi east route

  • Morning: start with noodles for brunch around Huxi Village; some noodle shops open early and close soon after noon.
  • Noon: have a proper meal in Longmen or Qingluo and try to be seated before 13:30, as many restaurants break for the afternoon from about 14:00 to 14:30.
  • Afternoon: cool off in a seaside café at Lintou or Aimen, then head to the beach once the sun softens.
  • Evening: restaurants reopen after about 17:00; have dinner in Huxi or head back to Magong.

Huxi Village: start with a bowl of noodles

Huxi Village is the township's main settlement and makes a good first stop on the east route:

  • Beef noodles: Laocai Beef Noodles (老蔡牛肉麵) in Huxi Village, for travelers who want to fill up before setting off.
  • A morning-only noodle shop: Jiaoma Century Egg Noodles (椒麻皮蛋麵), also in Huxi, opens early and closes around 13:00, so plan it for the morning.

Longmen: seafood after the tunnel walk

Longmen is on the eastern side of Huxi. Walk through the Longmen military tunnel first, then eat at Longmen Seafood (龍門海鮮). This seafood restaurant serves lunch and dinner in two sessions, breaking at about 14:30 and reopening after about 17:00, so don't leave lunch too late; for groups or in peak season, call ahead to check for seats.

Before ordering seafood, read our Penghu seafood ordering guide and ask about market prices and portion sizes, so the bill doesn't come as a shock.

Qingluo: another lunch option by the wetland

For a change of direction, Two Tomatoes Farm (兩個番茄農場) in Qingluo Village also serves proper meals, and its second branch, Chongqing Flavor (重慶味道), is close by. Both serve lunch and dinner in two sessions and take a break from about 14:00 to 17:30. Pair it with the Qingluo wetland and you can eat right after your visit; Qingluo is on the northern side of Huxi, so if you plan to continue to the north ring in the afternoon, it is a good place for this meal.

Lintou and Aimen: seaside cafés and desserts

Lintou and Aimen sit on Huxi's southern coast with neighboring beaches, on the way back to Magong, which makes them a natural place to spend the afternoon:

  • Seaside café: Jilinchun Café (及林春咖啡館) in Lintou Village is right next to Lintou Park and the beach, and stays open until early evening.
  • Dessert studio: NORI Dessert Studio | COFFEE&FOOD (NORI甜點工作室), also in Lintou Village, suits travelers who want something sweet and a rest; it does not open every day, so check before you go.
  • Beachside coffee: Xiaoe Café Penghu (笑ㄟCafé澎湖店) in Aimen Village is right by Aimen Beach, so you can come straight up for a rest after a swim.

Four tips for planning food in Huxi

  1. Early-closing shops go in the morning: noodle shops that close soon after noon need an early visit.
  2. Mind the lunch break: restaurants in Longmen and Qingluo stop serving lunch at about 14:00 to 14:30 and reopen only after 17:00.
  3. Don't leave cafés too late: cafés at Lintou and Aimen mostly close around 19:00, so time your seaside coffee accordingly.
  4. Check closing days: small shops change their closing days by season, and some also have a fixed weekday off, so check before you go.

Huxi is not far from Magong. The east route works as a half day on its own, or can be paired with the north ring or a day in town.
